About Rosemary

I am a writer and a passionate reader and I have been giving private lessons in English Studies for a little over a decade. Helping people learn to love and utilize everything English has to offer has always been something I’ve enjoyed, whether with friends, classmates, older students or with younger children. I was homeschooled in elementary and had public school (for social skills) throughout middle school and high school. I’ve helped hundreds of people and it always gets me excited when someone allows me to use my love for English to get them to where they want or need to be. I can teach most age groups, from 7 years old to 87 (though I can probably teach older students than that if requested), and goal is to allow my love for language, my love for English, to flow in a way where other people can get excited with me.

About the lesson

I learned from my mom, and from learning other languages myself, that to have conversations and to edit the written word are the best ways to learn a language so you can use it better moving forward.
With assignments, I will often help the writer be inspired and show them how they can use what they already know in order to dazzle their instructors.
With vocabulary assistance and conversation skills, I choose to work on a steady pace of communication and then slowly, as the student is learning and growing, quicken the pace and rhythm of the conversation until it’s possible for them to speak or understand quickly and slowly with anyone they could come in contact with (I am from California so my speech is going to be more patterned after what I’ve grown up with here).
I also love helping with one off, emergency assignments, and the inspiration approach is useful but I also help make it a faster process by using the students’ own thinking and putting into words that they can paraphrase and use themselves quickly so it can be handed in even faster.
