About Nhi
I'm a university student studying for a BA in Criminology and a Minor in Art.
I graduated high school with full honors as Valedictorian and a Seal of Biliteracy in Vietnamese.
My parents do not speak any English whatsoever. I am the main interpreter for them and Vietnamese was my first language. I learned English at school but spoke purely Vietnamese at home.

I also currently work at a Pho restaurant and the owner is Viet so I speak the language quite literally every single day of the week.

On top of it all, I am currently learning ASL & Korean so I understand the difficulty and frustration of learning a new language.
I take what my instructors in the past have done and incorporate it into my own lessons to make learning easier and much more enjoyable.

I like to hear what people's goals are in learning Vietnamese so I can structure my lessons around them.
I have pre-made powerpoints that follow the Elementary Vietnamese Workbook by Binh Nhu Ngo and a few other texts that not only get the learner involved in the Viet language but also the culture.
So if you already know a little bit of Viet and just want to get better at speaking, we might skip the alphabet portion. But if you're a complete beginner then we will start from the beginning and build from there.
Some days, we might watch videos to hear conversational Viet in media and others we'll learn new vocab or read folktales.
**Note: I speak Southern Viet (Saigon/Ho Chi Minh area) so I will be teaching Southern Viet; of course, I can work with the Northern accent as well if the learner already knows some Viet. This is just a disclaimer so you don't expect something else entirely.

Nhi has helped me so much! She’s great at explaining the content in an easier way to understand and is always patient with me. I definitely recommend!
She explains everything really well. I thought it was going to be really hard at first but she sections everything in a way a completely new learner like me can understand so she's definitely someone you can look towards to learning a new language.
She is very organized and timely! I didn't know anything about the language despite having fully Vietnamese-speaking parents and she broke it down in a way that even I could understand.
