About Chris Zi Yan
As an Asian tutor with a deeply global background, I bring a unique and well-rounded perspective to teaching Mandarin. I grew up in the multicultural environment of Malaysia for 18 years, spent 5 years living in the United States where I graduated from Stony Brook University, and have been living in China since 2023. Being a native speaker of both Mandarin and English, I perfectly understand the linguistic bridges and cultural nuances needed to help foreign learners succeed.
I believe that the absolute best way to master a language is through active, real-world connection. It is a true pleasure for me to teach by engaging in genuine communication with my students. In our lessons, we will focus heavily on conversation to naturally refine your pronunciation, master tricky tones, and build your speaking confidence.
