About Robbie
I have experience as a professional trumpet player, music educator, and music producer with a first-class degree from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). My passion for music extends beyond performance—I believe that a strong foundation in music theory is essential for all musicians, whether they are performers, composers, or producers. I specialise in helping students prepare for and pass music theory grades. I understand how daunting theory can seem, so I break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, using engaging exercises and real musical examples. Alongside my work as a performer, I have keen interest in music production, allowing me to apply theory in both classical and contemporary contexts. Whether you’re aiming for exam success, improving your composition skills, or strengthening your understanding of theory for performance or production, I am committed to providing expert guidance in a supportive and inspiring environment.

I like to take a personalised yet structured approach to teaching music theory, ensuring that each lesson is tailored to the student’s individual needs and learning style. My methodology combines clear explanations, practical exercises, and engaging discussions to develop a deep understanding of music theory concepts. I use real musical examples, interactive activities, and exam-style questions to reinforce learning, making even the most complex topics accessible and enjoyable! Lessons typically last 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student’s level and goals. I hold a first-class degree in music from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and have extensive experience tutoring students of all ages and abilities. My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students, including those preparing for ABRSM and Trinity theory exams, GCSE and A-Level music or simply looking to improve their theoretical knowledge for practical musicianship - a useful quality for any musician!
