• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I’ve always loved solving mathematical problems. The ability to arrive at the correct answer gives me enormous satisfaction and boosts my confidence in the subject. Alongside my academic journey, I wanted to share the knowledge I’ve gained with my peers and anyone who needs help — that’s why I started private tutoring.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach GCSE and A-Level Maths and Further Maths. I really enjoy discussing Pure Maths, Statistics, and Mechanics with my students. (I don’t have topics I dislike — I find all areas interesting once a student is engaged.)

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  Yes — my Maths teacher. They made me see that maths is not just about right answers, but about understanding and curiosity.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Patience, and the ability to understand each student’s unique needs — then adapt the syllabus or teaching approach accordingly.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  During COVID lockdowns, I forgot to mute my mic and accidentally answered my teacher’s question without realising it. It was embarrassing at the time, but it showed me how naturally I engage with maths — even when I don’t mean to!

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  The biggest challenge is understanding and visualising abstract mathematical concepts — and then making them relatable through real-life examples, graphs, or images.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I’m passionate about sports and finance-related topics. Teaching is definitely one of my passions too — explaining concepts and demystifying difficult topics so a student finally understands them is deeply satisfying.

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P) ?

  What makes me a Superprof is that I don’t just teach maths — I help students feel maths. I combine patience, real-world connections, and a genuine love for the subject. Whether it’s breaking down abstract ideas into simple visuals or using sports and finance examples to make statistics or mechanics come alive, I adapt to each student. Plus, I’ve been in their shoes — struggling with tricky concepts — so I know exactly how to guide them through.
