About Kimia

Hi, I’m Kimia! I studied Biology student at York University with three years of experience teaching Science, Math, Chemistry, and Biology to students at different grade levels.

Teaching is something I genuinely enjoy, especially the moment when a difficult concept finally “clicks” for a student. I’m patient, encouraging, and believe that a good teacher should make students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. My goal is to create a positive environment where students can build both their knowledge and their confidence.

Outside of teaching and science, I love staying active! You’ll often find me skiing in the winter, playing tennis, or going for a bike ride when the weather is nice. I think learning is a lot like sports, you improve with practice, the right guidance, and someone encouraging you along the way.

Whether a student needs extra support, wants to improve their grades, or simply wants to feel more confident in a subject, I’m excited to help them reach their goals!

About the lesson

I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, stay engaged, and truly understand what they are learning—not when they simply memorize answers.

My lessons in Chemistry, Biology, Science, and Math are personalized to each student’s age, grade level, learning style, and academic goals. I work with both elementary and high school students and adjust my teaching approach accordingly. For younger learners, I focus on making lessons engaging, encouraging, and easy to understand. For high school students, I break challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps and use examples, guided practice, and problem-solving to build strong understanding.

A typical lesson begins with identifying what the student already understands and where they may need extra support. We review important concepts, work through examples together, practice questions, and spend additional time on areas that are challenging. I can also help with homework, assignments, quizzes, tests, and exam preparation.

What sets me apart is my patience and teaching experience. I understand that every student learns differently, and I never want a student to feel embarrassed about asking questions or not understanding something right away. I’m happy to explain a concept in different ways until we find the approach that makes it click.

My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to build their confidence, curiosity, and independence as learners. I want students to leave each lesson feeling more capable and less overwhelmed than when they started.

My lessons are ideal for elementary students who need supportive Math and Science instruction, as well as Grade 9–12 students looking for help with Chemistry, Biology, Science, or Math—whether they want to catch up, strengthen their understanding, prepare for a test or exam, or get ahead in their course.
