About Chris
Hello! My name is Chris, and I am a mechanical engineering graduate from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a 3.5 GPA and four years of engineering internship experience with Northrop Grumman. I currently serve in the United States Navy, where professionalism, communication, and discipline are part of my daily work.
I have always enjoyed helping others understand difficult concepts in a calm and straightforward way. Many subjects, especially math and science, can feel overwhelming when they are taught too quickly or without enough explanation. My goal is to help students build confidence by breaking problems down into understandable steps and creating an environment where questions are encouraged.
I offer tutoring for a wide range of high school subjects, including math, science, physics, English, and general academic support. I also tutor college-level STEM courses such as calculus and statics.
Whether a student needs help preparing for exams, improving grades, understanding homework, or simply building stronger study habits, I aim to provide patient, reliable, and personalized support tailored to their learning style.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts instead of simply memorizing formulas or steps. I know many students struggle not because they are incapable, but because subjects are often explained too quickly or in ways that don’t match how they learn.
As a mechanical engineering graduate from Cal Poly Pomona with experience in both engineering coursework and professional industry internships, I try to break difficult topics into smaller, manageable pieces and explain them in a practical, straightforward way. I encourage students to ask questions freely and work through problems step-by-step so they can build confidence and problem-solving skills over time.
A typical lesson usually involves reviewing current coursework or assignments, identifying areas causing confusion, and then practicing similar problems together until the student feels comfortable solving them independently. I adapt my teaching style depending on the student’s experience level and learning preferences.
I offer tutoring for:
* High school math, science, English, and general academic support
* Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus
* Physics and introductory engineering topics
* College-level calculus and statics
What sets me apart is that I understand both the academic side and the practical application of these subjects through engineering and professional experience. I also aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning without feeling judged or overwhelmed.
