About Isaac
Hi I'm Isaac, I have recently achieved 4A*s in: Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Further Maths at A-level. I will be studying medicine at the University of Cambridge, through tutoring I hope to inspire other students to be passionate in their subject and enjoy learning and gaining knowledge about something that they love (or hopefully at least grow to like).

When tutoring, I will first try to ascertain the areas which the student most needs help to improve in. Once that has been determined, I will go through the concepts of that topic. In maths, the student and I will then complete some practice questions on that topic so that they understand the reasoning of why a certain method is used and let them then lead me through some questions so that they can improve their mathematical confidence. For Chemistry and Biology, I will then have a two-way discussion about the topic with the student so that they are able to talk about, in a relaxing environment, what they have learnt which will help them to remember and understand the content. After we have a discussion, we will go over some past exam questions on the topic to see what sorts of ways the exam boards will get you to showcase your knowledge and understanding the specific marking points the examiners would like to see (this will go a long way in the real exam). As I get to know the student, my teaching style may change to better suit the needs of the students but I will always prioritise them showcasing their knowledge as in the real exam ~80% of it is producing your knowledge, so in tutoring and revision, a significant proportion of time should be spent thinking about and producing knowledge to increase confidence in that subject and is one of the best ways of remembering content. I will also always end off the session with a few questions from previous topics we have covered so that knowledge in those areas is consistently refreshed.
