About Naomi

Hello, my name is Naomi and I am currently studying at the University of Cambridge. I'm a dedicated educator with a passion for fostering meaningful learning experiences. I bring 2 years of teaching experience, specialising in Psychology (A-level/ GCSE), Sociology (A-level/ GCSE), Physical Education (A-level/ GCSE), Maths (GCSE) and English (GCSE). My journey in education has been guided by a commitment to instilling a love for learning and helping students realise their full potential.

Beyond the classroom, I am a Level 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics Coach and find teaching a student a new skill one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. Whether it's gymnastics or psychology, I always find ways to integrate my passions into the learning experience, making lessons not only educational but also enjoyable.

I am an experienced tutor with a rich background in teaching/ coaching, characterized by a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. At both GCSEs and A-levels I achieved all A* grades as well as full marks in my EPQ. I am currently a student at the University of Cambridge studying Education with Policy and International Development in the hope of going on to do a Masters in Education.

With 5 years of coaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with diverse groups of students ranging from 3-18. This translates into academic teaching 2 years ago when I began tutoring. I have since tutored numerous students through their GCSE and A-level exams, passing on the tips and tricks that helped me get a top grade.

I have also taught in Primary Schools and mentored potential Oxbridge candidates through their applications. This hands-on experience has allowed me to tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of my students and stay attuned to the ever-evolving landscape of education.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology revolves around a student-centred approach. I firmly believe in creating an interactive and collaborative learning environment where students actively participate in the learning process. This is combined with retrieval practise each session in the form of exam questions to enhance the educational experience. The student will also receive a personalised PowerPoint and marked homework at the end of every session.

I specialise within Psychology (A-level/ GCSE), Sociology (A-level/ GCSE), Physical Education (A-level/ GCSE), Maths (GCSE) and English (GCSE). I have had students in all of these subjects move up several grades after tutoring them up until their exams and am excited about the prospect of doing the same with other students who equally want to do well.

The way my sessions work is I will first create a timetable after a discussion about topics your child is studying so that prior to the session they are able to look over the content. If there are gaps within a certain topic I will re-teach before getting the student to apply their knowledge to exam questions. I am also aware of the importance of repetition and retrieval practise and aim to incorporate this in every session to cement knowledge. Each week the student will also be asked to complete an exam question which will be marked by myself and feedback given within the session.
