About ELIZABETH
I am a Cancer Researcher currently nearing PhD completion.
I have been a National Scholar with GATE and WB-SET qualifications. Prior to this, I was a teacher at an ICSE school where I was teaching Biology to students from Class VI-XII. Here, I was in charge of conducting practical classes and exams single-handedly which served as the best opportunity for me to analyse and direct the intrigued students according to what they find more interesting. I take teaching very seriously and therefore believe in nurturing the students by encouraging them to think independently and develop their skill sets to score well and apply their knowledge in various facets of life. My encounters with students began very early on in life right after I passed ISC exams. I have been a private tutor to over 20 students since the last 15 years. I continue to teach students even now as it acts as the fodder to my scholastic mind. My opportunities of being a teacher further extended with PhD when I got to train about 16 students from the leading institutions of India like IIT, NIT, Jadavpur University, Calcutta University and many others in my laboratory. Through our encounters, I believe to have nurtured each of their scientific acumen to the best of my ability for most of them are independent national and international research scholars. As a researcher, I believe I shall always continue to be the student of science which definitely makes me the right person to teach.

My teaching approach includes-
1. Firstly, making the students understand core concepts of a topic through interactive modes like a PowerPoint presentation. I always make sure that the topics do not become monotonous. Therefore, the best way is to make use of pictorial descriptions or dynamic animations or charts in the presentations that very quickly grabs the attention of students who are otherwise finding the topic difficult to understand.
2. Secondly, I always teach the topics in 'sections' so that it is easier for the students to understand as well as remember.
3. Thirdly, I have always practiced teaching as a two-way learning process. Herein, both me and my students set out on a journey to unravel newfound facts. I am always open to learning from my students just as they are eager to learn from me. It is only through this attitude they find it easier to communicate with their doubts regarding a topic and the process of learning together becomes superfun. Moreover, this gesture inculcates confidence and independence in them as learners. They believe that are capable of conceiving ideas and thoughts that are worth relying with their teacher counting on them. This fuels their interests, and they improve with rolling speed.
4. Fourthly, I encourage students to prepare their notes by themselves. I begin with helping them to construct their understanding of the topics in form of notes which will be their aid in recapitulating the topic during the exams.
5. Fifthly, I teach students to represent answers in the most scientific way possible by suggesting them to include important 'keywords' that attract the attention of examiners in the very first place. This would help them fetch marks instantly.
6. Lastly, I conduct numerous tests of all the topics individually as well as combinatorially so that the students can build confidence and do away with exam fear which mostly make them under perform.
I am keen to teach Biology online to Class X, XI and XII students along with those preparing for NEET or those who are enrolled in Zoology BSc (Hons/Pass) and Zoology MSc courses.
