About Massa

I specialize exclusively in adult language learners navigating official Canadian language benchmarks and standardized testing. My feedback is specific and diagnostic — I don't just mark something wrong; I explain the gap and give the learner a concrete strategy to close it. I track each student's progress across all four skills and adjust the plan weekly based on what the data shows.
I also understand the emotional reality of high-stakes testing — the time pressure, the anxiety, and the frustration of being close but not quite there. I build confidence alongside competence, because both matter on test day.

Who the lessons are for:

My sessions are designed for adult learners at Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 3 through 10, with a particular strength at the intermediate-to-advanced range (CLB 6–10). My students include newcomers to Canada, permanent residence applicants, internationally trained professionals, and anyone preparing for the CELPIP-General or CELPIP-General LS exam.
Whether you are aiming to meet an immigration language requirement, qualify for a professional licensing body, or simply reach your personal fluency goals, sessions are fully customized to your target score, timeline, and the specific skills where you need the most support.

Teaching methodology and techniques
My approach combines structured skill-building with real communicative practice. I believe that language learners grow fastest when they understand why a skill matters, not just what to do. Each session blends explicit strategy instruction (such as the PREP method for speaking and T-chart frameworks for writing) with guided practice, immediate feedback, and self-correction techniques.
I draw on shadowing protocols for pronunciation and fluency, task-based activities for reading and listening, and vocabulary recycling systems that help learners retain and actively use new language. I tailor every strategy to the learner's proficiency level, test timeline, and dominant language background.

A typical lesson plan
A typical 60-minute session follows a clear arc:
We open with a warm-up — a short speaking or writing prompt that activates prior knowledge and sets a communicative tone. We then move into the skill focus of the day, which might involve strategy instruction, a mock task under timed conditions, or a vocabulary and grammar mini-lesson. The bulk of the session is practice: the learner attempts a task, I provide targeted feedback, and we refine together. We close with a short debrief — key takeaways, self-study recommendations, and a preview of what comes next.
Between sessions, learners receive a structured self-study plan with specific daily tasks, so progress continues beyond our time together.
