About Sam

I am bilingual in English and Italian, I speak German (B2), Spanish (B1), French (A1) and I studied Latin in school. I love analysing the logical patterns of a language so I can use them to feel more in control.

I am fascinated by Pronunciation and by how an almost imperceptible change in our mouth can create a completely different sound. I am also a singer and performer.

• CELTA qualification (Grade A)
• 10 years’ experience working with adults of all levels and I am better suited to advanced levels
• General and Business English for online teaching companies and as a private tutor
• I have a Youtube channel called ENGLOGIC where I teach English and the language learning process
• I specialise in Pronunciation

About the lesson

Since I am a language enthusiast and learner myself, I know how our mind works when learning a foreign language and I use this to our advantage in our lessons.

I prefer teaching B1+ students so we can already have a good friendly conversation. I want to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere so you can feel comfortable and at ease with me, but still knowing that we are going to work hard to achieve your goals. This allows me to focus on your mistakes as I strongly believe that error correction is at the core of mastering a foreign language: we all make mistakes and that is absolutely fine, and I am interested in knowing the thought process in your head that leads to you making them. Understanding WHY something is wrong is incredibly useful and it makes it much easier to avoid making the same mistake again. I want to help you be able to speak fully, independently and freely by showing you the logic behind English: you don’t have to simply memorise its rules by heart as I want you to understand them so you are more in control of the language. There is always a reason why we say what we say the way we say it, and we can apply this concept to old and new grammar topics.

I specialise in Pronunciation and I can help you recognise sounds (with your ears and the phonetic symbols), physically and technically produce them in your mouth and I can also show you the rules that we have to choose the right sound based on the spelling of a word.
