About Sophie

Education:
I am a current Graphic Communication Design student studying at Central Saint Martins, which is continuously ranked among the top five art schools in the world. I also achieved A* in both Art IGCSE and A level, scoring 98% in my final outcome). I have attended multiple life drawing, film, portfolio preparation and graphic design courses at Central Saint Martins, Ravensbourne, and Kingston School of Art.

Experience and Knowledge:
I recently myself have gone through the entire Art School application process, so everything I did and learnt is fresh in my mind. I was offered every single Art School I applied for both foundation and BA, where it was compulsory to prepare individual personal statements, portfolios and interviews. These universities include top Art schools such as Central Saint Martins, Kingston, London College of Communications, Nottingham Trent, Leeds Art Uni etc.
I am currently Course Rep for my course, and it is extremely fulfilling. This role has given me further insight into the creative world, and direct connection and meetings with the Vice Chancellor and course leaders. Therefore, I have a better idea of what they look for in prospective students.

About the lesson

What makes Art and Design so wonderful is how everyone's style, inspiration and interests are so different and personal. To start off, I must view some recent work so I can analyse it and tailor the lessons to what you need as an artist/designer.

I am offering help in A-level, applications for Art Foundation and BA courses in the UK (UCAS). Having recently just started my BA, everything I learnt about Art School application is fresh in my memory, and I base my teaching on my own experience of art education with a passionate and fun approach!

Preparation for art school application (Art Foundation and BA Graphics/Fine Art/Fashion courses):
- all rounded knowledge and experience of various art & design courses and universities in the UK
- tailored advice on choosing the best course for the particular student
- assisting of a professional portfolio made on InDesign
- online portfolio preparation (content selection, format, and presentation) / real portfolio
- interview preparation (gaining confidence while speaking about your own art work in a group setting)
- personal statement advice (art school statements vary greatly to any other UCAS statements and require a different layout and content)

Examples of my current students:
Student 1 - a mature student who wanted portfolio advice, having applied to University of the Arts Antwerp, Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, in which I advised. The portfolio went through 2 rounds, and then we focused on interview prep and how to exude confidence when being asked about your portfolio.

Student 2 - an Illustration student who wanted advice on UCAS. We worked together to put her personal statement together and she is now at Camberwell studying Illustration!

Student 3 -a student aspiring to study Economics at university in London, but needs atleast an A/A* in her Art A level. Every week, we discuss what she has achieved, we go through ways to improve her sketchbook, as well as discovering new niche artists together for her portfolio.
