About Laura

Hello! My name is Laura. My mother tongue is English and French.

I have a BSc in Psychology from the University of Reading, UK, a Certificate of English Teaching Qualification from Cambridge in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), as well a Certificate of Assistant from the Association Montessori International (AMI).

Born in Switzerland and raised in France by my English parents, I know and understand firsthand the desire and the difficulties that come with learning another language. My international background sparked my passion for teaching and learning!

I enjoy sharing with people and seeing them progress, evolve, appreciate and learn a language that has the potential to change the direction of their lives.

I spent the last 6 years teaching English and French in different countries around the world such as Vietnam, Australia, Switzerland and France. These experiences have given me the opportunity to teach in various settings such as private schools, public schools, online, one-on-one and to work with different cultures.
As a student-centered educator, the needs and wants of my students are my top priority. I currently teach online and at an in-person language center.

I also don't like to have a good time with my students, laughter and smiles are always welcome.

My hobbies include yoga (a lot!), meditation, hiking, running, painting, hanging out with my cat (and my human friends), and baking.

About the lesson

My lessons vary according to the needs, age and level of the student. During our first lesson, I assess the level and I get to know each other. It is important to me to know what the student's goals are (exam preparation, conversation, etc.) so that lessons can be tailored to those needs.

My lessons include oral, reading, grammar, listening and pronunciation activities through different forms such as games, exercises, pair work, writing etc...

I like to make all of my classes fun in some way, so learning isn't boring! :)
