  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Persian/Dari fluently because it is my native language and an essential part of my cultural identity. Growing up in Afghanistan, I was surrounded by the beauty of Persian poetry, storytelling, and everyday conversations that shaped my love for the language. Additionally, my academic journey inspired me to dive deeper into its literature and linguistic nuances.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language’s culture?

One of the most emblematic figures in Persian culture is the poet Rumi. His spiritual and poetic contributions continue to influence Persian speakers across generations. Rumi’s message of love, unity, and humility truly reflects the soul of Persian culture.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

One of my favorite expressions in Dari is «خیر باشد» / “Khayr Bashaad,” which roughly translates to "May it be good." It's a beautifully optimistic phrase used to comfort others when faced with uncertainty. It captures the kindness and hopefulness of Afghan culture.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

For me, Dari is more than a language; it is a bridge to my people, my history, and my roots. It also enables me to share Afghanistan’s rich literary heritage and cultural knowledge with others, especially those who are learning the language.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The Persian language has complex grammar and poetic expressions that may be difficult for beginners. However, using stories, songs, and cultural context—as I do in my lessons—helps learners understand and enjoy the language more naturally.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

I remember during my early days of teaching English to Afghan students, I challenged myself to explain complex English literary concepts using local Dari metaphors. That experience taught me how powerful and flexible languages can be when connected to cultural realities.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

My time studying in India exposed me to a diverse international community. Speaking Persian with fellow Afghan students abroad deepened my appreciation for the language and helped me see how it connects us across borders.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

I bring a blend of academic training, cultural insight, and genuine passion to every lesson. With over five years of teaching experience, I tailor each class to the learner’s level and goals, whether they want conversational fluency or literary appreciation.
