About Shakti
I am a fun and engaging BC-certified teacher who has been teaching elementary school for the past 4 years. I have taught multiple ages and people with learning exceptionalities how to read and write. As well as upgrading their literacy skills. I completed my Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia with a certificate from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB). I have a Master's in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Special Education. As well as an Orton Gillingham Tutor. When learning how to read and write consistency is key. Tutoring provides the student with the opportunity to master the literacy skills that they need in order to read and write with confidence.

My reading approach is multi-sensory, systematic, and sequential. As an Orton Gillingham tutor, I teach students using the Orton Gillingham approach which includes: writing skills, comprehension, decoding, and fluency of text. I can teach a variety of learning differences including but not limited to ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia. I meet the student where they are and build off their previous knowledge. Through this, the students develop their confidence and enjoy learning how to read and write.
