About Karen
I love teaching students of all ages! Whether helping an elementary student find "just the right book" to helping high school students find their voice in a writing assignment, I have a toolbox of creative, fun, hands-on lessons that promote student engagement and success. I build relationships with my students quickly because I take time to get to know them in a safe learning environment. They know that I am their biggest cheerleader and we celebrate all accomplishments.

Tutoring sessions are individualized to meet students' phonetic, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing needs. The tutor will provide initial assessments to determine each student's reading and writing levels and will design and implement best-practice teaching strategies and curriculum to advance student learning. Throughout my 25+ years of experience as a K-12 librarian and in middle/high school and college composition instruction, I have developed effective, individualized curricula that support struggling readers and writers through consistent instruction and guided practice.
