About Bruce
I was an administrator at an American graduate school for close to 30 years. My work centered on communications, writing, and media production. When I retired, I became an ESL teacher at a community college near my home. During the last five years as an ESL instructor, I taught over 1000 students from every part of the world. My specialty was American pronunciation, although I also taught intermediate English as well as advanced conversation and writing. I have a bachelors degree in English, a masters degree in religion, and I have also completed a 120-hour TEFL/TESOL Certificate.

All language instruction should be student centered. We need to identify your immediate and long-term goals for learning English. We also need a clear understanding of your current level. Once we have a clear understanding of your present level and future goals, I will carefully tailor a program aimed at achieving them. In addition to providing skilled instruction, I am also here to cheer you on as you progress in your mastery of English. I believe in keeping my students motivated and enthusiastic about learning. I try to use lessons that integrate as many aspects of language learning as possible. Teaching new vocabulary, while at the same time introducing important grammar is greatly preferable to boring grammar exercises. We will also learn both formal and colloquial English so that besides formal rules, students learn how English is actually used at work or at the supermarket.
