Hi Parents and Students! I’m a certified elementary school teacher with 7 years of teaching experience and specialized training in evidence-based reading instruction.

My journey as an educator began with a passion for helping young learners find their voice through reading and writing. Early in my career, I saw how easily students can become discouraged when traditional reading methods don't click for them. That realization prompted me to dive deep into the Science of Reading—mastering how the brain actually learns to decode text, build vocabulary, and construct meaningful writing.

I ground all of my reading and writing instruction in the Science of Reading—the research-backed understanding of how the brain actually learns to process language:

Explicit, Systematic Skill-Building: We don't guess or skim. I teach students explicit strategies for decoding words, analyzing text structures, and uncovering deeper meaning in what they read.

Custom-Differentiated Resources: I design and utilize high-interest, multi-leveled reading passages and structured writing prompts tailored precisely to your child's exact reading level and learning style.

The RACE Strategy for Writing: I teach students how to organize their thoughts, construct powerful sentences, and write clear, evidence-backed responses that meet and exceed state standards.

Outline of a Typical 60-Minute Session
Every lesson follows a predictable, highly engaging framework designed to maximize focus and skill growth:

Warm-Up & Fluency Booster (5–10 Mins): A quick, energetic exercise focusing on phonics, vocabulary acquisition, or targeted sentence building.

Explicit Skill Instruction (15–20 Mins): Direct modeling of a core reading or writing concept using custom visual anchors, explicit strategy breakdown, and high-interest text.

Guided & Independent Practice (20 Mins): Collaborative passage reading or writing application where I gradually release responsibility to the student, providing real-time feedback and positive reinforcement.

Wrap-Up & Progress Check (5–10 Mins): A quick reflection where the student summarizes what they learned, demonstrating mastery and ending the session on a high note of confidence.
