About Quincy

Hello! I'm a Chemistry instructor at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and PhD candidate at the University of Alberta, with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Master's degree in Soil Science.

I have several years of teaching experience, including working as a university instructor in the Philippines and currently teaching Chemistry at NAIT. I have also worked extensively as a teaching assistant at the University of Alberta, helping undergraduate students understand scientific concepts and develop practical laboratory skills.

My academic and research background has given me a strong foundation in Chemistry, but what I enjoy most is making science accessible and helping students realize that Chemistry does not have to be difficult or intimidating.

I am patient, approachable, and committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether you need help understanding a difficult topic, solving practice problems, or preparing for an important exam, I am here to guide you every step of the way.

My goal is simple: to help you understand Chemistry, build your confidence, and succeed in your studies!

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is simple: make complex concepts easier to understand, build confidence, and help students become independent learners.

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Alberta, with a background in Chemistry and experience teaching at both the university and college levels. I currently teach Chemistry at NAIT and have previously taught undergraduate courses and laboratory classes.

My Teaching Methodology:

I believe that understanding concepts is more important than simply memorizing formulas. I break down challenging topics into manageable steps, use real-world examples to explain scientific principles, and encourage students to ask questions. My lessons are interactive, supportive, and tailored to each student's learning pace and needs.

What to Expect During a Lesson:

I typically begin by reviewing key concepts and identifying areas where the student needs additional support. We then work through examples together, followed by practice problems that students attempt independently. I provide immediate feedback, explain common mistakes, and share useful strategies for solving similar problems.

What Sets Me Apart:

With experience as a university instructor, teaching assistant, and researcher, I bring both strong subject knowledge and practical teaching experience. I understand that students learn differently, so I adapt my explanations and teaching methods accordingly. My goal is not just to help students get the correct answers, but to help them understand the reasoning behind them.

Who My Lessons Are For:

I offer tutoring in General Chemistry for high school students, college students, and first-year university students. Whether you are struggling with fundamental concepts, preparing for an exam, or looking to improve your grades, I can help you develop the knowledge, problem-solving skills, and confidence needed to succeed.
