About Jack
The way I learn, is not just memorising answers to exam questions by heart and rewriting them, but understanding the concepts and reasons behind why things in chemistry work as they do. I believe that this is the best way to learn, especially for chemistry, where simple concepts can get you a very long way if you know your way around them. My lessons would initially involve gauging where the student is with their knowledge and understanding, then working on their proficiency and confidence. My lessons would be aimed at students in SQA National 5 and Higher classes.

Hi! I'm Jack, and I'm a 2nd year chemistry student at the University of Strathclyde here in Glasgow. I love chemistry and I am passionate about it, and love to see people taking an interest in the subject. Everything about it fascinates me, and I'm keen to help others develop their skills and competencies in this great science. I graduated my first year with distinction and have high A grades in all areas of chemistry I study, as well as high A grades up to SQA advanced higher level. In my sixth year at school I volunteered in the lower levels of the school teaching maths to struggling students and was well liked by students and teachers alike.

Details
Initially I would like to offer a free 45 minute session to gauge where the student is with their understanding of the course, and also for introduction and familiarisation. Thereafter the lessons would proceed at £22/hr for National 5 students, and £25/hr for Higher students. For lessons, I can travel to you, or if more convenient, lessons can be held at the Mitchell Library at Charing Cross. For large travel distances, a small reimbursement for transport would be required.
