About Elise
My interest in chess began when I first learned the game during childhood and quickly became fascinated by its strategic depth. I enjoyed analyzing different positions and discovering how careful planning could influence the outcome of a match. This interest encouraged me to study decision-making and strategic thinking more deeply, eventually leading me to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and later a Master’s in Cognitive Science.
Over the past 6 years, I have taught chess to students who wanted to improve their strategic thinking and competitive skills. Some learners were preparing for tournaments, while others simply wanted to enjoy the intellectual challenge of the game. Teaching these students helped me develop clear methods for explaining strategies and improving decision-making.
My teaching approach focuses on logical thinking, patience, and thoughtful analysis. I guide students through practice games and strategic exercises that help them understand the deeper ideas behind each move. Helping learners build confidence in their decision-making and enjoy the strategic beauty of chess is one of the most rewarding aspects of my teaching experience.

My chess lessons focus on helping students understand the strategic thinking and decision-making involved in the game. Chess is not only a board game but also an activity that strengthens logical reasoning, planning ability, and concentration. In my lessons, students gradually learn how to think ahead, analyze positions, and make thoughtful moves during a game.
Lessons usually begin with an exploration of basic principles such as piece movement, board control, and opening development. Students practice simple strategies that help them understand how to organize their pieces and protect important positions on the board. These early lessons help learners develop confidence while understanding the structure of the game.
As students progress further, lessons expand into tactics, positional strategy, and game analysis. Students learn how to recognize patterns such as forks, pins, and checkmates while also improving their ability to evaluate different positions. My goal is to help learners develop strong strategic thinking skills while enjoying the intellectual challenge that chess provides.
