About Xin
I am currently a PhD student in marketing, and teaching has become an important part of my academic journey. At my university, I also work as a teaching assistant, which has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, guide students patiently, and support different learning styles. I truly enjoy helping others learn, especially when it comes to language and culture. In my free time, I have been practising Chinese calligraphy. I’ve found that calligraphy, much like fitness, puts me into a calm, meditative state. It reminds me of the beauty and depth of Chinese culture, and it motivates me to share this experience with more people. I hope to meet local learners who are interested in Chinese language, culture, or simply want to explore something new and meaningful. As a tutor, I am reliable, organised, and dedicated to creating lessons that are both effective and enjoyable. My goal is to help students feel confident, supported, and inspired throughout their learning journey. My Lessons My lessons focus on practical communication, cultural understanding, and confidence-building. I adapt my teaching style to each learner’s goals—whether that’s everyday conversation, travel, business, academic purposes, or simply exploring Chinese culture. Teaching Methodology & Techniques I combine structured learning with real-life examples, guided conversation, and personalised exercises. I also enjoy bringing elements of Chinese culture—such as sports culture and calligraphy—into the lessons to make learning more engaging and authentic. My classes emphasise pronunciation, natural expressions, and practical usage, helping students speak confidently and intuitively. Typical Lesson Length A standard lesson is 60 minutes, but I am flexible and can adjust the duration depending on your needs and schedule. Qualifications & Experience Before starting my PhD, I taught Mandarin to several foreign friends in China, helping them improve their conversational skills and cultural understanding. My academic background in marketing and sports branding allows me to teach not only general Mandarin but also specialised topics such as business terminology, communication strategies, and sports-related vocabulary. Who My Lessons Are For I welcome learners of all levels—complete beginners, intermediate learners looking to improve fluency, and advanced students focusing on refinement. Adults, university students, and motivated teens are all suitable for my classes.
