About Jo
My goal is to empower students with a deep understanding of core concepts and to help them achieve outstanding academic results. I bring a decade of experience teaching grades 1–9 to inner-city students, many of whom began several years behind their peers. By employing a patient, strategic approach, I dedicated myself to building their phonemic awareness and decoding skills through systematic phonics instruction. My dynamic and engaging teaching style creates a vibrant learning environment where students are both motivated and inspired. Additionally, I have successfully implemented the Socratic method with fifth graders, fostering critical inquiry and thoughtful exploration in literature and writing.

Provide excellent & result-oriented private tutoring from 1st to Grade 5 in phonics, writing, and history.
I had great success using the Socratic method. It is an incredible educational philosophy, one that truly nurtures the whole person. A curriculum grounded in the Great Books, fine arts and offers a well-rounded intellectual foundation, fostering critical thinking and deep engagement with knowledge.
