About Ella

I’ve been singing since I was young and have spent the past ten years training as a classical singer, including postgraduate study in vocal performance at the Royal Northern College of Music. But singing hasn’t always come easily to me. Mental health challenges and physical tension sometimes held me back, and I’ve come to understand that developing my voice has been as much about getting to know my body as it has been about learning technique.

Through my own journey, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the relationship between body, mind and voice, alongside a nuanced approach to vocal technique across different styles. This experience shapes the way I teach: I want to help you understand your voice, work with your body rather than against it, and develop the freedom to express yourself fully.

Beyond technique, I’m fascinated by interpretation, acting and artistry. I love exploring the emotional heart of a song: getting under the skin of the lyrics, understanding the musical style, and discovering how these elements come together to make a performance compelling. For me, singing is about more than producing a beautiful sound; it’s about connecting with what you’re singing and finding a way to bring it to life.

About the lesson

Singing is such a joyful feeling. But it’s not always as simple as opening your mouth and letting your voice out. Sometimes we’re held back by things in our heads, by tension in our bodies, or by a sense of disconnection from ourselves. Singing is an athletic, mind-body art: it asks us to bring together breath, movement, coordination and expression. It’s also an opportunity for playful exploration, experimentation and discovery.

My approach combines classical vocal training with trauma-informed, mind-body principles and a gentle, playful energy. I want to help you feel more at home in your body, develop a freer and more connected voice, and discover what feels possible when you give yourself the space to experiment without judgement. Whether you want to build confidence, develop your technique, explore your voice or work towards a particular musical goal, lessons are shaped around you.

I enjoy working with singers at all stages. If you’re an experienced singer, I can offer detailed, nuanced vocal coaching to help you refine your technique, deepen your musical interpretation and explore the finer points of your performance. If you’re a complete beginner, I’m just as happy to go back to basics with you: building confidence, getting to know your voice and discovering the pleasure of singing, one step at a time.

I’m a classically trained singer and studied postgraduate vocal studies at the Royal Northern College of Music.
