About George

I am an experienced North-London based tutor with an academic background in Classics and Ancient History. I have spent two years with Studio Education Shanghai as a remote and in-person tutor to students aged 12-16, specialising in highly selective entrance exams, and am now accepting further students looking for GCSE, A-Level or University admissions tuition.

I am available to tutor in the following subjects: English / History / Government & Politics / Latin / Classical Greek.

I hold an MA (Scotland) degree from the University of St Andrews, where I finished top of my year in Latin courses. This year, I completed my postgraduate studies at the University of London, where I gained a mark of distinction, and I currently hold offers to undertake PhD research at several world class institutions in the UK.

My aim as a tutor is to encourage a love of the humanities by giving students the confidence to develop their skills and the knowledge independently. I work with my students to help them identify areas of difficulty, taking to time to get to know their personality and how they learn. I understand that each child has different areas of confidence and different insecurities, and I always aim to tailor my methods according to the student's needs.

My goal is to build on each pupil's confidence and to find ways for them to engage with the subject enthusiastically. I am always patient and encouraging, and maintain a friendly environment which enables my students to tackle difficult areas without anxiety and to return to their schoolwork with greater faith in themselves and in their abilities.
