My teaching approach centers on understanding each student's individual goals before diving into content, since a business professional preparing for presentations needs a different path than a student tackling academic writing or a beginner building conversational confidence. I use a mix of structured lessons and adaptive, in-the-moment adjustments, drawing on my background in technical writing, research, and project management to bring real-world context into language and skill-building exercises.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in on progress and any challenges from the previous session, followed by focused practice on the day's objective, whether that's grammar, vocabulary, writing structure, or research and organizational skills. I incorporate authentic materials and practical exercises, then close with a clear takeaway and a plan for what to practice before our next meeting.
With an end goal of building natural conversation abilities, utilizing various methodologies that align with a student's learning style and needs allows for progression to occur more quickly and for each student to gain confidence with each lesson.
