About Joseph
My name is Joseph Onuorah. I am a student at the University of North Texas studying computer science with a minor in finances. I have always had a strong passion for the field of engineering, particularly software engineering. I love to learn and I love to help others learn, therefore, I see tutoring as an opportunity to impart valuable knowledge on students, learn from students, and to just interact with one another.
I mainly tutor math, but I can also tutor in computer programming. I work for another private tutoring company called Preply where I tutor students ranging from elementary school to college in subjects like algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II. I also tutor Physics as well as some elementary science subjects. I am very proficient and well-versed in the C++ programming language. I know things from simple variable and function declarations, to dealing with more complex topics like classes, polymorphism, and data structures. I also have experience in Java programming and can provide extensive tutoring in Java.

I try to make my lessons as detailed as possible. Programming can be quite difficult for some students to grasp, especially since it involves a lot of problem solving and creating algorithms, so I try to take it slow. I encourage my students to always ask questions, even if they have to interrupt me while I’m explaining (if they wait till I finish, they might forget). To teach my students, I write code pertaining to a certain topic with my screen shared and explain the code as I write. I prompt for frequent feedback from my students as I type to make sure they understand everything I’m typing and explaining. I give my students practice coding problems to work through and I go over the problems afterwards, sharing my solutions to the problems as well.
