About Kelsey
I have tutored many of my fellow classmates and other college students. I have given lessons for about 2 years and love passing along the methods that have been taught to me. Each person that I have tutored has given me great feedback. Most say that I frame grammar in a way that just makes more sense to them. I have had 8 years of formal teaching in Spanish (linguistics, grammar, pronunciation, writing, literature) and studied abroad in Seville, Spain for a semester in college (advanced grammar, cultural study, practical application).
I have a deep love and appreciation for the Spanish language and the different cultures that utilize it. In my lessons, I long to express and transfer my joy for the language through interactive learning and exercises. In order to learn vocabulary and grammar methods, I like to use rhymes and songs to secure a firm memory of how and when to use them. I also like to use practical ways to learn the language- listening to music, watching clips of shows or movies. I make it a point (especially with higher level students) to speak primarily in Spanish to gain the familiarity and comfort of using and interacting with the language. Overall, my lessons have a grammar, vocabulary and interactive component.
I want my students to not just learn Spanish or "get through it". I long for my students to learn an appreciation for the language and actually enjoy learning it.
