About Lara Beth

I used to hate reading, writing, and discussions in high school. Then I had a fabulous teacher who pulled me into the deep end with it and opened doors for me to fall in love with it. It is my goal and dream to do the same thing with my students.

I graduated early from a private university with my Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in History. I loved my poetry classes, banned books classes, and of course my writing courses. I am now a 4th grade ELAR teacher and it is a dream come true! I believe in discussion based learning. It eliminates the fear of developing a thought by forcing my students to think for themselves. I love to challenge them to find the evidence to back up their claims. All of these things work together ultimately in writing. If a student can discuss a topic well, then they can turn that into flawless writing. With me as your tutor, English will be fun!

About the lesson

My teaching method and techniques include a lot of repetition and songs to help students lock it in their brain. During my lessons, my students review past content before I introduce the new concepts. The prior and past information is key to getting students to understand and connect with the new information. I pull different genres, ideas, topics, and ways of teaching to accommodate all types of learners!I believe that discussions, notes, and evidence based assessments are important to helping a student learn. My lessons should challenge students but also help them learn the information. Exercising the brain helps thinking skills. My lessons are for any student who desires a deeper level of thinking and understanding of literature or writing.
