About Krista
I am new to this experience, but I previously tutored elementary kids, specifically fifth and fourth graders. I taught them three times a week for a year and a half. Two students, in particular, I saw the most achievement. One student was a first grader who hated doing homework. She didn't understand math when I explained it verbally to her. That's when I started using legos to help her count and visually see math the math problems. Her math skills improved when taught visually, and we are continuing to work on understanding math verbally. The other student was also a struggling student who had no desire to do homework. He often lied about not having any. Together we worked on ways to get him on task and stay on task. I found ways to keep him motivated and now he does his homework right away without anyone nagging him to do so.

I am a third-year college student, studying elementary education, secondary education and specializing in geography or psychology. My teaching methods consist of hands-on activities and visual aids. I believe when students are involved in the lesson, they learn more from it. I understand all of the different methods of learning, and I like to incorporate all of them in each lesson. I like to make learning available for all learning styles.
