About Makala
I am a college chemistry bachelors student engaging in undergraduate research to pursue a PhD. I have taken all upper level coursework for my undergraduate in chemistry and am finishing up biology. My undergraduate research involves characterizing carbohydrates from the legs of spiders to find cheaper medicinal alternatives. I am preparing an article to present at a conference to have published.

I teach my topics with hands on learning. Not only do I rely on conceptual needs, but I illustrate the real world and lab purposes to bring a “common sense” understanding to the subject and how different factors affect the outcome. I also rely heavily on working a vast variety of problems out to illustrate exceptions to rules, as well as get hands on learning to see how the student will respond when put in a test environment. Whatever the student is struggling with, we will attack that concept head on and integrate multiple teaching techniques to make the concepts clear.
