About Abirami
I recently moved to Auckland from Chennai, India, to pursue my postgraduate studies, and I'm enjoying settling into life here. Outside of academics, I love arts and painting, and I'm also a certified Yoga Instructor, which keeps me calm, focused and patient — qualities I bring into every lesson. I enjoy helping students build confidence, not just get through the syllabus.

I focus on building a genuinely solid understanding of the fundamentals rather than just memorizing for the test. For English, that means working closely on essay structure, comprehension and clear written expression through guided practice and regular feedback. For Mathematics, I break problems down step-by-step, work through plenty of examples together, and make sure a student can explain the "why" behind a method before we move on. I keep an eye on where each student is genuinely stuck rather than assuming, and adjust the pace and explanation style to suit them.
Lessons typically run for two hours, either weekly or twice-weekly depending on what a student needs in the lead-up to assessments or exams.
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class with Distinction) and am currently pursuing a Master of Professional Accountancy in Auckland, alongside an ACCA qualification. I bring three years of professional experience in a detail-focused, deadline-driven environment, along with strong academic writing and problem-solving skills built through my own studies.
I can teach school students (Years 1–13 / NCEA level) in English and Mathematics, and am happy to help with regular coursework, assignments and exam preparation.
