About Catherine
Do you find that your practice time often feels unproductive when working on classical repertoire or chord voicing? I support a wide range of students who want to improve their technical accuracy and expressiveness through steady, deliberate practice.
My background includes a BM Commercial Music degree from Belmont University where I learned how to balance theory with pure performance. I have helped 386 students refine their pedaling technique and master the art of dynamics and expression. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable with memorization techniques and ear training exercises during our time together.
I integrate rhythm and timing into every lesson to build a solid foundation for your playing. I also focus on sight transposition so you can play with more freedom across various styles. Many pianists struggle because they assume that more time at the keys automatically leads to better results. I teach that the quality of your movement and the depth of your listening provide the path to improvement. I provide a short recorded playback of each session so students can review at home and see exactly what happened. This method allows you to evaluate your own hand position and chord voicing after the lesson ends.
