About Tania
Hi, I'm Tania! I have a Communication degree from UNLV, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0. Among various coursework in how to communicate and analyze rhetorical choices, I wrote and delivered an original TEDx talk back in 2024, refined through more than 70+ rehearsals, then performed it live for a real audience and recorded it on camera under pressure.
I've spent almost 20 years in theater, including improv, where the whole job is staying calm and adjusting when something doesn't go as planned. That's the same skill public speaking actually runs on, and it's why I don't teach from a script. I teach from what I've had to figure out myself, under real pressure, more than once.
Outside of speaking work, I tutor and mentor students of different ages. I'm also a substitute teacher and have worked as a classroom aide. And, currently, I'm a Girls Write Now Mentor (former mentee in screenwriting and stage writing), most recently mentoring in Civil Discourse and their Summer Book Club program.
I take this seriously because I know what it's like to be genuinely afraid of being watched while you talk. I've been there, and I've gotten good at it anyway. I can help you do the same, because your voice matters!

Hi, I'm Tania. I teach public speaking the way I actually learned it: by doing it a lot, getting uncomfortable, and doing it again until it stopped feeling like performing.
I don't hand people a script or a list of generic tips. We break things down instead. Structure, pacing, voice, body language, one piece at a time, then put it back together. Most people who freeze up aren't missing ideas. They've got the ideas. Nerves just get in the way. So we work on that too. Breathing, eye contact, what to do when your mind goes blank mid-sentence, because it will, and that's normal, not a failure.
A typical lesson starts with wherever you actually are. Maybe you've got a speech to prep, a presentation for class, an interview coming up, or you just want to stop hating the sound of your own voice in front of people. I'll have you run through something out loud early, rough is fine, so I can hear what's actually happening instead of guessing. Then we work on one or two specific things that session. By the end you run it again, and you'll hear the difference yourself.
Here's what I actually bring to this: I wrote and gave a TEDx talk, rehearsed it 60-plus times, and delivered it live in front of a real audience and a camera that doesn't forgive mistakes. I've done theatre for almost 20 years, including improv, where there's no redo when something goes sideways, you just keep going. I've also spent real time tutoring and mentoring writers of very different ages, so I'm used to meeting someone where they are instead of where a textbook assumes they should be.
This is for teens and adults. Whether you've got one specific speech you're terrified of or you just want to generally get better at holding a room, either one works.
