About Jess

I am a student at the University of Leeds studying biomedical sciences. I have always had a love for biology and I feel it has always clicked for me so teaching and helping students not only do well but love it too is a dream. I’m 18 years old in my first year of university, so have very recently been a student of the exams I would tutor for. I am extremely friendly, patient and would never judge.

About the lesson

I taught myself the entire content of biology in both GCSEs and A level, completing an 8 at GCSE and A at A level. Being so recently a student, I understand the right techniques and unique ways of remembering and learning information that is fun but also perfectly correlates to the mark schemes and specifications in order to achieve top marks. I understand how teachers may just talk at you about processes and what happens but I like to learn by finding out why things happen- turning many different topics and processes into one so everything clicks just right. I use colours and diagrams to keep attention high rather than just words on a screen. My typical lesson length would be about an hour but I am flexible and happy to reduce or increase this depending on my students' needs. I have tutored both myself and friends in a way that teachers don’t teach and received very high feedback. My lessons would be aimed at students completing GCSEs or A levels in AQA biology so age ranges from 13-18.
