About Miriam
Hi, I’m a Computer Science graduate with a strong background in mathematics and a passion for helping students succeed. I specialize in high school math and focus on creating a supportive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building their understanding at their own pace. My teaching is grounded in empathy and clarity. I take time to understand how each student learns best and adapt my lessons to suit their individual needs. Whether we’re working on algebra, calculus, or exam preparation, I make sure every concept is explained in a way that makes sense — not just memorized. I hold a university degree in Computer Science, which included extensive coursework in mathematics, and I’ve been tutoring high school students in math for several years. I’m patient, reliable, and committed to helping students not only improve their grades but also gain confidence in their abilities. I focus on making maths clear, engaging, and relevant for students. I believe that understanding how a student thinks is just as important as knowing the subject, so I tailor each session to fit individual learning styles. My approach is calm, supportive, and flexible — I aim to build confidence, not just skills.
In my lessons, I use real-life examples and visual explanations to break down complex concepts. I encourage questions, guide problem-solving, and make sure students truly understand the why behind each step. I often blend traditional exercises with interactive methods to keep things interesting and effective.
Each lesson typically lasts one hour, and I’m happy to adjust depending on the student’s needs. I’ve worked with students aged 13 to 18, mainly at high school level and I especially enjoy helping those who find maths challenging or intimidating.
