Thomas has been teaching our children (10 and 12) for the past 12 months, and has been absolutely excellent. He is a skilled musician and an quality educator, adjusting his delivery based on where our individual children are at. It is very important to us that our children's love and enjoyment of music is nurtured rather than becoming a chore, and Thomas has always been careful to keep lessons enjoyable and interesting for them. My daughter (8) and I learn cello with Thomas. I am a medical professional so I have an extended experience with the breadth of teaching from terrible to excellent. Under his tutelage we have far exceeded our hopes and achieved two grades of musical board exams within one year.

What he gives is a measured and methodical approach to teaching which adapts to one's ability but always with a focus to the final goal. He taught an eight year old and a 45 year old the same repertoire. He had to assess and understand our strengths and weaknesses and utilise individualised methods to bring us to the same goal. As an adult learner, I especially appreciated the constant challenges he posed on a weekly basis. This manifested as regularly tangible improvements that were positive encouragement to us both.

Thomas spent most of the year studying overseas and he remained committed to helping us with weekly lessons despite the logistical difficulties.

I believe very much that the student has to give as much as the teacher; but in Thomas' hands, one's efforts will be best directed and shaped. We continue our lessons with him because of his intelligent and considered methods, his inspiring and often entertaining approach but ultimately because of the results he will achieve.
