About Darren
I am an English tutor and an entrepreneur. Nowadays, I am a complete digital nomad but in the past I owned and operated a small construction outfit in Victoria British Columbia. I finished a Ski Resort Management diploma program in college before managing a few companies that lead into running my own business.

You are here because you want a little more help. Maybe your language learning apps or movie watching isn't enough anymore and you want some personalized help. Or, you have taken lessons in the past and found that this is a fantastic way for you to learn. That is great and you made an excellent choice!
My method of teaching consists of conversational style learning while keeping it fun and engaging. I try my best to create a comfortable atmosphere where we can get to know one another. That way, I learn your individual style and I cater my classes specifically towards your needs. You will leave every class feeling confident and wanting to learn more!
Once you schedule a trial lesson, I'll send you a comprehensive placement test which will show me exactly where your strengths and weaknesses are. During our lesson we will discuss areas in which you struggle with and where you want to improve most. After our first lesson I will create a lesson plan that suits your needs and that will help you improve. Even if you don't have another lesson with me, you will have a good understanding of what it is that you are needing to help you succeed!
So here is a little more about who I am. I love most independent sports like surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, yoga, and running. I have been travelling off and on since I finished high school and plan to see as much of the world as possible while I can! My heart lives in a small town but I really like to visit big cities. Meeting new people is one of my favorite activities and I have so much fun talking and sharing stories! I could live off of pizza and tacos but I try to keep a healthy diet and I'm a sucker for movie marathons. :)
I enjoy working with all ages and all learner levels as each student brings a unique style to the table and helps challenge me as a teacher.
I really hope to see you in my class and I hope that together we can bring you that much closer to becoming and all-star English speaker! Or at least, i'll have an opportunity to get to know an awesome person like you!
