About Boubakar

Hi! I'm Boubakar, a passionate and dedicated tutor with experience in both academic and extracurricular teaching. As a student at Cornell University studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, I bring strong technical knowledge, real-world project experience, and a love for mentoring others. I’ve taught students of all ages in subjects ranging from math and science to programming and languages, as well as coached in areas like soccer and leadership. My goal is to make learning clear, personalized, and empowering for every student I work with.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is grounded in clarity, connection, and confidence-building. I begin by understanding each student’s goals, strengths, and challenges so I can tailor the material to their level and preferred learning style. I focus on breaking down complex topics into digestible steps, using real-life examples and interactive explanations to help students truly grasp the “why” behind what they’re learning, not just the “how.” I also incorporate active problem-solving and questioning to reinforce understanding and encourage independent thinking.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material to reinforce retention. From there, I introduce new concepts in manageable pieces, using visuals or analogies when helpful. We then walk through practice problems together, gradually shifting responsibility to the student. I end each session with a recap, next steps, and tips for studying or reviewing between lessons. I also adapt the pace and structure depending on the subject, whether we’re doing algebra proofs, writing code in Python, or analyzing physics diagrams.

What sets me apart is that I’ve been on both sides of the learning experience: as a Cornell Engineering student actively applying math, physics, and computer science in real-world projects, and as a mentor who has supported over 200 students in one-on-one and group settings. I’m multilingual, fluent in English, French, Arabic, and Fulah, which allows me to support diverse learners and create a welcoming, inclusive learning environment. My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and early college students who need support in math, physics, programming, or language learning, especially those who benefit from a calm, encouraging, and personalized approach.
