About Anne

I have a BA in British History from the mid and late 1980's. I began tutoring off and on during college and joined a tutoring specialty group 20 years ago. I returned to school in 2009 for a BA in Social Science and an MS in Counseling. I raised my daughter by homeschooling, and she received a full ride scholarship at Rutgers University. I have taught, publicly or privately, all age groups from 2-50. If you search under Indeed.com , I have been listed as proficient and highly proficient as an instructor for elementary, middle and high schools as well. These last 8 years, I have encompassed ABA Therapy for children on the Spectrum into tutoring. I was raised by 2 professionals who absolutely insisted on the children having well rounded backgrounds. When taking a summer vacation, we were required to study and learn the history of our destination. Of course, at the time, we weren't overjoyed with this. However, I am more than grateful for this practice because it has given me an enormous love of learning and teaching.

About the lesson

I try to make learning fun. I am in favor of giving responsibilities to separate students and having them switch places when they are comfortable. Most of my younger students have enjoyed reading to others. Some have decided their abilities are more suited to math or science. As soon as the student is able and confident in the material, having them take the reigns brings them extra confidence and seems to boost their learning times. I also enjoy using the natural environment as a teaching tool. It is perfect and much healthier than sitting indoors all day. I am open to suggestions from the students as well in regards to what they feel would help them progress. I still believe a well rounded education is imperative in the world today.

Details

As stated above, when hours are purchased in advance for the following week (5 hours) or 2 weeks (10 hours), my rates would drop to $12.00/hr and $10.00/hr respectively. If the classes are to be in person and within 30 miles of my home, there will be no extra charge for travel or gas. Past the 30 mile radius, the price would be individually discussed and agreed upon by the two parties. There will be no charges for cancellations made up until 8 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. From 4-8 hours, cancellation charges would be half the hourly rate, and 4 hours or less would be full price.
These general rules are not always 100%, as we all have situations in life which we have no control over.
