I was a student in Professor Swann's Fashion Figure drawing class, Diversity in Design Class, and Senior Collection Class. When I felt discouraged and uncertain about where to start in my projects, she always led me in the right direction and gave me the resources I needed to complete my goals. She is very understanding so if you communicate with her and let her know when something is not working well for you, she will personally sit down with you and come up with solutions so that you do not fall behind in classes. She is a teacher that will ensure that you are always doing your best work.

In my other classes, She would attend the critiques and encourage me to feel more confident in my work and give her feedback on the areas that I can improve on. She goes out of her way to make sure you have all the tools you need to execute your work. That meant a lot, knowing that even if she was not my professor for a specific class, she was still rooting for me and other students.

In her fashion figure drawing class, I wanted to learn how to make full-figured croquis because I mostly design for larger bodies. She made sure to be inclusive and I use those skills in my personal and freelance projects today.
This class helped me really find my illustration style and because of how she taught it, I receive a lot of positive feedback on my fashion illustrations.

For my senior collection, I had so many ideas that were going in different directions and she helped me hone them in so that I can have a strong senior collection. She is very honest, but in a caring way, so if she feels that you can do better, she will push you and motivate you to do that. She builds relationships with all of her students and regularly checks in with her students. I am very grateful to have been a student of hers!
