About Mia

I am a dedicated and patient tutor with over 5 years of experience, specializing in working with children with ADHD and autism. I am committed to helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. With a strong academic background and a passion for teaching, I tailor each lesson to suit the individual learning style and pace of my students. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and encouraging critical thinking rather than memorization.
Alongside my academic experience, I have a background in art, which strongly influences my teaching style. I often use creative and unconventional approaches to make learning more engaging and memorable. Whether through visual explanations, storytelling, analogies, or imaginative exercises, I aim to present ideas in ways that truly resonate with each student. This creative perspective helps students see subjects from new angles and develop a deeper, more intuitive understanding.

My approach is supportive, structured, and results-driven. I create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. Whether you’re preparing for exams, improving grades, or strengthening foundational skills, I am here to guide and support you every step of the way.

About the lesson

I work with k-12 students to develop individualized routines and tools that make learning accessible and enjoyable. I offer extra practice on difficult subjects using psychologically proven methods that aim to help retention and create meaningful connections between learning and life experience. What I do is not about memorization and passing tests, but developing the skills to feel capable of integrating new skills to ultimately become an independent learner. I take pride in transforming school work from a chore into an exercise of agency and exploration.

A typical tutoring session would consist of reviewing the student's workload and collaboratively creating a to-do list that prioritizes the workload. Typically we begin with the ones that are easiest to check off, in order to build momentum and executive function. Then as we work through assignments, I take note of strengths and weaknesses that are then used as the blueprints for extra practice and making sure we can achieve conceptual understanding.

I specialize in working with kids who struggle with ADHD and Autism by developing tools that work for them and their unique brains so that they have appropriate scaffolding and support when approaching school work.

I also believe that cultivating relationships between tutor and student is one of the most important parts of the job. The truth is that learning is vulnerable, and so having a tutor you trust makes all the difference.
