About Gene
Hi! I’m a creative Mandarin and Maths tutor based in London with a background in Business and Management, Translation, Mandarin language studies, music, and intercultural communication.
I enjoy helping learners develop confidence through patient, structured teaching. Whether you're learning maths or Mandarin, my lessons are tailored to your goals and learning style.
For Maths: I specialise in helping primary and KS3 students understand concepts through clear, step-by-step explanations.
For Mandarin: I help beginners develop speaking confidence, pronunciation and cultural understanding through practical, engaging lessons.
I am specialising in helping students learn Chinese in a natural, memorable, and expressive way. My teaching combines language, music, and storytelling, so you don’t just memorise Mandarin—you actually feel and understand it.
Instead of traditional grammar-heavy lessons, I use:
singing and rhythm for pronunciation and tones
character meaning and visual storytelling
poetry and short texts for natural expression
️ conversation practice to build real speaking confidence
I also have a background in music, interpretation, and cross-cultural communication, which helps students connect language with emotion, memory, and real-life use.
