About Olivia
I spent years performing professionally on cruise ships, playing guitar across dramatically varied styles for constantly changing international audiences, and that versatility shapes how I teach today. Eight years into teaching now, I've worked with about one hundred fifty students, many of them drawn specifically to genuine musical versatility rather than narrow specialization in just one single style. My cruise ship background gives me unusually broad, practical performance experience, insight that purely specialized guitar teachers simply cannot offer their students in the same way. I work particularly well with students who want genuinely broad, practical skill rather than deep expertise in just one narrow musical style alone. My teaching style is adaptable and genuinely practical, reflecting years of real, professional performance experience across dramatically different musical contexts and audiences. I have guided numerous students toward genuine versatility, watching many become far more adaptable and confident performers across multiple styles simultaneously. Students consistently tell me they appreciate the breadth of my teaching, feeling genuinely prepared for whatever musical situation they might actually encounter. I take genuine pride in helping students become the kind of adaptable, versatile musician that real, varied performance opportunities actually demand. Years performing on cruise ships for endlessly varied international audiences taught me genuine musical versatility, and that adaptability shapes an entirely broad, practical approach to teaching guitar today. Lessons cover a genuinely wide range of styles, since cruise ship work demanded playing everything from pop to jazz to Latin standards convincingly for completely different audiences nightly. I teach students to read a room and adapt their playing, a skill cruise work demanded constantly, helping them become genuinely versatile rather than narrowly specialised in just one single style. Technical fundamentals receive thorough attention, since genuine versatility requires solid foundational technique that transfers confidently across completely different musical styles and contexts. I run students through quick style-switching exercises, moving between genres within a single lesson, building the same adaptability cruise ship work demanded of me constantly for years. Repertoire spans genuinely diverse styles deliberately, ensuring students leave with broad, practical skill rather than narrow expertise in just one single genre alone.
