Lori is a thoughtful, caring, and compassionate teacher. She deeply cares about students knowing the ‘why’s’ and the ‘how’s’ of nursing. She is intentional in how she gives feedback. Lori breaks concepts down into simpler ideas and relates the information to something you already know. For example, she was teaching me about a medication class. She explained how it worked and how that impacted the disease process. All of a sudden I understood why that med is used for certain conditions. It is easier to remember when you understand how it all connects rather than just trying to recall information

I have observed and even participated in some of Lori's nursing lectures, labs, and simulation scenarios. She truly understands that not everyone learns the same. She assigns relevant reading, creates various scenarios, case studies, and hands-on projects to help students retain and demonstrate the needed skills and knowledge needed to be a compassionate, attentive, and skilled nurse. I have witnessed Lori meet after hours to help students who need a little extra attention. She helps these students in a way that maintains their self-esteem and empowers them to feel more confident and uplifted.
