About Ash
I am a 4-8th grade science education student (seeking an additional certification in ESL). I have passed the 4-8th grade science content certification exam. I will be student teaching this spring semester and graduating in May with about 5 semesters of pre-service teaching experience, a year of running a classroom after school, and 9 months of coaching experience. I have a passion for teaching students in ways that works best for them, while focusing on skills rather than memorization.

My main approach to teaching is to work on a growth mindset while working towards using new knowledge to make greater connections. I prefer an inquiry-based approach to science (and math) where students think by doing and learn to answer their own questions. I always stay positive and insist that every mistake is a clue to success.
