About Eliza
I am a twenty-three-year-old music student. Music has been a huge part of my life since my first piano lesson at age six, since then I took up the cello and soon afterwards began singing. I continued training in all instruments through school reaching grade 6 in piano, grade 8 in cello and a diploma in voice. On leaving school I received training for four years from a retired professional opera singer and maintained my cello and piano part time.
Now that I'm a music student I'm looking for ways to do what I love while funding my education and teaching is something that I really enjoy.
I believe patience is one of the most important parts of teaching, as well as taking the time to understand each pupil; so that they feel less like it's something they have to go to and more something that they actually enjoy.

Typically I begin with a pretty standard music piece for whatever level they're at, unless they have a piece of their own that they've been looking at. I spend the first lesson essentially understanding how they approach the music, their positioning as they play, and their attitude towards the music. I then cater the lesson plan accordingly. Some pupils respond best to starting with scales/sight-reading, others prefer to begin with an exercise and the pieces. My typical age range is between 6-16yrs old, though I should note that I have the most experience teaching around 10-12 yrs. I teach all levels with singing and cello, however with piano I mainly teach beginners. My typical lesson length is 50 minutes however on request I can provide longer lessons.
