About Jacob
-Hi, I'm Jacob, currently in my 1st year of uni, studying for a Psychology Masters at Exeter - MSci Applied Psychology (Clinical). I'm interested in tutoring as I'm hoping to be a clinical psychologist in the future so this would offer a great opportunity to further improve my soft skills e.g. communication and being able to get on with a wide range of people.
-Achieved AAB in A Level Psychology (AQA), Music (Edexcel) and Maths (Edexcel) respectively, as well as an A* in an EPQ on music therapy for dementia patients.
-Achieved 11 GCSEs, all As and above, including 3 9s.
-Achieved a distinction in Grade 8 oboe and merit in ABRSM Grade 5 music theory. I have over 5 years of orchestral experience in youth orchestras and now my university orchestra too but I also enjoy writing my own music in my free time, currently being in the process of writing my own symphony. So my musical knowledge is extensive.
-For the student however, I've always been passionate about passing on knowledge and as someone who did my A Level exams last summer, the specifications are still fresh in my mind, as well as the strategies I used to achieve the grades which got me into my top university choice.
-You're in good hands as I have experience working with children from previous work experience in schools and with being in a customer facing role from Tesco night shifts. These developed a lot of self-discipline and patience with these skills allowing me to be able to get on with a wide range of people and to have adaptable strategies for different situations. Extracurricular music also led to strong organisational and time management skills, key for an educational setting.

-Lessons with me will be tailored to the student and can focus on whatever they would find most useful e.g. development of revision resources, timetabling revision, exam questions, essay checks etc. but if stuck, I can offer material too. I am aware revision can initially be a process of trial and error so I'm more than happy to try different strategies with the student until we find what works for them. Lessons can be a mix of things so please don't think it's 1 type of thing only!
-For A Level Psychology, I made essay plans for all possible questions so my knowledge of the specification and what can come up/how to answer it is deep. I also created many mind maps too.
-Lessons are usually up to 2 hours, likely 1 session per week but happy to negotiate doing more than that (both hours per session or number of sessions) if desired, especially nearer to exam season. Lessons are offered in 30 min increments. 1st introductory lesson (30 mins) is free!

Lessons are offered in 30 min increments (30/60/90/120).
A Level Psychology: £25/hr
GCSE Psychology: £15/hr
Please be aware 30 min increments will be charged at half the hourly rate e.g. 90 mins of A Level Psychology would be £37.50.
