About Christina

Hi! I’m a Rowan University student pursuing a dual degree in English and Education, currently holding a 3.7 GPA. I’ve completed extensive coursework in both English literature and composition, as well as child and adolescent development, giving me a strong foundation to support students both academically and emotionally.

I understand that school can be overwhelming—sometimes it's the hardest part of your day. That’s why I approach tutoring with patience, kindness, and flexibility. My goal is to meet students where they are, help them build confidence in their abilities, and make learning feel more manageable and even enjoyable.

I offer personalized support in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and study skills for middle and high school students. Whether you need help catching up, staying on track, or challenging yourself further, I’m here to support you every step of the way—with no judgment, just real progress.

About Me as a Tutor

As a tutor, I focus on student-centered, adaptive teaching methods that build understanding and confidence. I prioritize clarity, patience, and encouragement, tailoring each session to suit the student’s learning style and pace. My approach blends clear explanation, interactive guidance, and real-world connections to help lessons stick.

Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a scaffolded approach—starting with the basics and gradually building up to more complex ideas. I incorporate visuals, analogies, and active questioning to make lessons engaging and easier to grasp. I also support students in developing good study habits and time management strategies, especially helpful for those who feel overwhelmed or struggle with executive function.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Check-In (5–10 min): Go over goals, review past material, and address any questions.

Core Lesson (30–40 min): Introduce or review key concepts, model examples, and work through practice together.

Guided Practice (10–15 min): Student practices with support and feedback.

Wrap-Up (5 min): Recap what we learned, answer lingering questions, and set goals for next time.

What Sets Me Apart

I focus on helping students become more confident and independent, not just getting the right answers.

I bring lived experience as a neurodivergent learner, which helps me relate to students who feel like school wasn’t built with them in mind.

I create a kind, nonjudgmental environment where asking questions is encouraged and progress happens at a comfortable pace.

I adapt my lessons to fit each student’s needs, whether that means using creative visuals, taking movement breaks, or building in extra support with focus and organization.

Who My Lessons Are For

Middle school and high school students who need support with English, writing, reading comprehension, or study skills.

Neurodivergent students or those with IEPs/504 plans looking for personalized strategies that work for them.

Anyone who wants clear, patient, and encouraging academic support—whether they’re catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead.
